This specimen was lot 4302 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $776.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. 1 Ecu d'or, 1567-M (Toulouse). Charles IX, 1560-1574. Crowned arms. Reverse: Floriated cross. NGC graded EF-45." This coin is called the écu d'or au soleil in Duplessy[2] with a face value of fifty sols tournois and is noted with many variations in obverse and reverse legends.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.37 g, .958 fine gold.
