This specimen was lot 30435 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $8,812.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Proof 100 Pesos 1991 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. A massive 5 ounce gold gem commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Discovery and Evangelization of America with a pictorial design featuring Columbus presenting a Native Americans to his court. Deeply mirrored surfaces are essentially flawless despite a few reddish toning spots that are ultimately represented in the grade. Bright, bold and virtually perfect, this current offering has a mintage of only 35 pieces." This series of silver and gold NCLT's struck for the 500th anniversary ran 1989-92 and comprised four designs.

Recorded mintage: 1,500 in silver and 35 in gold.
