The specimen shown was lot 1011 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $1,098.25.

The catalog description[1] noted,
"Bogotá, Colombia, bust 1 real, Charles IV, 1797JJ, XF with gorgeous old toning all over, no problems, nice strike. Plate coin in Calico's Numismatica española (2008). Jorge Ortiz Murias collection of Colombian colonial minors."
The second specimen was lot 12034 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[2] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1797-JJ Real. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). VF-30 (PCGS). Sharp and original with good color and surfaces, showing just a very light scrape on the lower part of the portrait. Nearly as nice as the Murias coin, plated in Calicó, which brought over $2,000. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins." The SCWC lists eleven dates for Nuevo Reino between 1792-1804, all scarce.

Specification: 3.38 g, .896 fine silver, .097 troy oz ASW, the first specimen 3.5 grams.
