Sincona sale 43, lot 3166
This specimen was lot 3166 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,432 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHINA, Volksrepublik, 100 Yuan 1988. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. Originalverschweisst. (People's Republic of China, one hundred yuan of 1988, panda, Choice Proof, In original plastic.)"
The hundred yuan was used for the one ounce gold panda starting in 1983, with a different reverse for each year. The half ounce panda (KM 186) was fifty yuan.

Recorded mintage: 289,055 + 10,000 proofs.

Specification: 31.13 g, .999 fine gold, 1 troy oz AGW.
