This type was struck in small numbers 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835, 1837 and 1846 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by 200 réis, 400 réis, 800 réis and 1200 réis in silver. This specimen was lot 12384 in Heritage sale 397 (New York, January 2006), where it sold for $126.50. The catalog description noted, "Pedro II 100 Reis 1837, toned UNC, small spot below the second 0 of 100. Very scarce grade for this type."

Recorded mintage: 9,562 (commonest date).

Specification: 2.24 g, .917 fine silver, .066 troy oz ASW.
